Eli Manning won his second Super Bowl Most Valuable Player award Sunday night after guiding the New York Giants to a 21-17 comeback victory over the New England Patriots. He has grown to be a lot more than just Peyton Manning's little brother now. Manning had 30 completions from 40 throws for 296 yards, with one touchdown pass and zero interceptions.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell says he is disappointed in the quality of last week's Pro Bowl and changes must be considered, perhaps even dropping the game altogether. Tom Brady's two long incompletions in the final minutes, and several missed chances throughout the game cost the New England Patriots a chance at another Super Bowl victory. It also resulted in their second Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants in four years, 21-17 on Sunday. "We just came up a little bit short," Brady said.

New York Giants tight ends Travis Beckum and Jake Ballard each suffered knee injuries in the Super Bowl. Beckum tore his right anterior cruciate ligament with 12:55 left in the first half on Sunday. He was hit and knocked down by Patriots linebacker Tracy White on the play. The injury happened away from the play, a short pass out of the backfield.

Tiquan Underwood is wishing the New England Patriots good luck after they cut him on the eve of the Super Bowl. If they win, the wide receiver who had three catches this season would be eligible for a championship ring. Underwood tweeted that he would use his release as motivation, thanked his supporters and wished the Patriots luck.

Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers has won the 2011 Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player award in a landslide. Rodgers earned 48 votes to two for New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees in balloting by a nationwide panel of 50 media members who regularly cover the NFL. The Packers star is the first Green Bay player honored since Brett Favre concluded a run of three straight seasons as MVP in 1997.

Curtis Martin has gone from the mean streets of Pittsburgh to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The star running back with the Patriots and Jets for 11 seasons was one of six players elected Saturday to the shrine. Martin once disliked playing the game, but used it to escape a neighborhood where his grandmother was murdered.
